Will Race 3 moderate success will affect the stardom of Salman Khan

The Bollywood nowadays is driven by the successful movie franchises and Race is one of them. We all have witnessed the star power of Salman Khan after the release of the action movie "Wanted" that revived the action avatar of Salman Khan and he went on to give blockbusters like Dabangg, Sultan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hain etc. As we all know the festive season of Eid brings a lot of happiness, blessings, delicacies and a Salman Khan's movie which entertains the people and set the box office on fire.

Race 3 was directed by Remo D Souza and it released this Eid. It created a pre-release buzz because of its unusual star cast of Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Jaqueline Fernandez, Daisy Shah and Saqib Saleem.

The movie was released with mixed reviews still it took an amazing box office opening to make 28 crores on the very first day. The movie showed a considerable jump of 15-20 percent in the next two days to bring 36 crores and 37 crores on Saturday and Sunday which helped the movie to cross the mark of 100 crores in the opening weekend itself. The numbers were huge and synonymous to the past Salman Khan movies box office collections except for Tubelight and Jai Ho.

After grossing these huge numbers the word of mouth came into play and the box office numbers started falling down in the weekdays. Seems like the movie would not be able to cross the 200 crores mark at the box office. Now the sole reason for this inconsistent performance of the movie was negative reviews and the word to mouth. There have been several movies that started low and went on to get skyrocket return on investment at the box office example Queen, Newton, Hindi Medium, Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety etc. The only factor that makes these movies work consistently at the box office for weeks is an interesting storyline and a positive word of mouth.

The box office collections of Race 3 were single-handedly driven by the star power of Salman Khan and its low expected lifetime collection is not going to affect his magnitude of stardom. He is a star who knows how to bounce back after a failure with a bang. How can we forget the phenomenal box office collections of the movie Kick that released after the moderate box office performance of the movie Jai Ho? Also last year Tubelight could not perform well at the box office but Salman Khan stood up strong with his movie Tiger Zinda Hain where he roared like a tiger at the box office. The producers are well aware of the fact that the stardom of Salman Khan is the guarantee of success at the box office. Race 3 has done a lot better business that it could have done in the absence of Salman Khan with a similar storyline. The movie did have a lot of stars in it but the only thing that attracted the people to the theatres was Salman Khan' stardom. Salman Khan has only delivered Blockbusters and a few moderately successful movies in the past 10 years that speak a lot about his level of stardom at the box office. We all call Shahrukh Khan "King Khan" but the real king of Box Office has been Salman Khan who has clearly outshined all his peer A-list Bollywood stars.
Salman Khan is currently shooting for Bharat which is going to be directed by Ali Abbas with whom Salman Khan has given the blockbusters Tiger Zind Hain and Sultan. So the lethal combination of both will definitely set the box office crazy. Also, Dabbang 3 is on the cards so, no doubt in the coming years' box office is going to sing the Salman Khan song. The stardom of Salman Khan has come up to a level that he can drive a movie based on an ordinary storyline to blockbuster, there is no actor currently who can beat him in the action genre.

Sanju Movie Review

Star Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Star Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala,Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Vicky Kaushal, Anushka Sharma, Karishma Tanna and Jim Sarbh.

Director: Rajkumar Hirani.

Positives: The movie is another gem coming out of the magic box of Rajkumar Hirani. The movie is all about the life of the renowned movie star Sanjay Dutt portrayed in an amazing manner. The movie is fueled by an elite star cast and direction and will make you stick to your seat with eyes wide open as you cannot afford to blink.

Movie Analysis

The script of the movie basically focuses on the two phases, the first one is the drug addiction phase that takes you closer to the life of the superstar and runs you through the series of incidents that made him a drug addict. Ranbir Kapoor has copied Sanjay Dutt better than him and the first half of the movie you can just admire the acting, emotions, and fun coming out smoothly from Ranbir Kapoor.

Star Performace:

Ranbir has copied Sanjay Dutt better than him, throughout the movie he talks, walks, behaves, imitates him perfectly. The credit, of course, goes to Rajkumar Hirani to pull this magnitude of performance out of Ranbir Kapoor.

Another star of the movie is Vicky Kaushal who has given another powerful performance after Masaan and Raazi. You all will be surprised to know that he just overpowers Ranbir Kapoor in some of the scenes. He is playing the role of his best friend in the movie. His Gujarati accent and the cheesy dialogue which says "Ghee che to Ghappaghap Che" will definitely woo your mind.

Paresh Rawal has played his part well and seems like a perfect fit in the role of Sunil Dutt. Paresh Rawal has shown immense enthusiasm while playing the role of a supportive father and also the movie touches some of the untold aspects of the Dutt Family. Manisha Koirala has played the role of Nargis with grace and it was a treat to see her after so many years on the silver screen.

Anushka Sharma looks beautiful with that new hairstyle and plays her role well. Sonam Kapoor looks average and has a very short role in the movie however she gets the commode around her neck for her average performance from Ranbir Kapoor. Jim Sarbh has played his part well and Karishma Tanna has looked so sensuous that your eyes are going to pop out.

Direction and Music:

Music was never the USP of this movie so the music has been average overall, however, the song "har har maidaan fateh" is refreshing and beautiful. Now coming to Rajkumar Hirani I can say that he has nailed it, the credit of transforming Ranbir Kapoor to Sanjay Dutt goes to him. He has made a biopic that we are going to admire for generations. The movie touches the dark side of Sanjay Dutt's life and has been portrayed in an exceptional manner. Rajkumar Hirani deserves a standing ovation for his outstanding direction and vision.

My Verdict:

The movie will make you laugh, cry, think and surprise simultaneously. I will suggest you all to must watch it as it is not just an ordinary masala entertainer, it is a feather in the cap of Rajkumar Hirani and Ranbir Kapoor. I personally that there can be nothing more entertaining than the life of a movie star and a cricketer so, you can expect a lot of biopics in the coming years.

Bollywood movies that made us cry

Bollywood movies that made us all cry

1: Baghban

The movie was the remake of Kannada movie "school master" and starred Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Salman Khan etc. The movie was based on the theme that how the children become indifferent towards their parents when they grow old, they divide them and become self centred. In a country like India where parents are given a status above god, the movie striked the soft emotional corner of every Indian. The superb emotional drama coming from legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini touched the hearts of the people. The movie also had a emotional speech by Amitabh Bachchan in the end that was high on emotional quotient.

2 Kal ho na ho

The movie was a love story of a terminally-ill person who take up the responsibility of getting his love married to some other guy in order to reciprocate her from the pain of his death. The movie starring Shahrukh Khan, Prity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan was directed by Nikhil Advani. The movie was a family entertainer, had some light and emotional moments also the movie was high on the romantic front. The movie showed Sharukh Khan suffering and struggling with his illness at the same time sacrificing his love for her happiness. The movie took the indian audience closer to a whole different side of true love and was highly emotional.

Bollywood Movies that failed miserably at the Box Office

1: Besharam

The movie starring Ranbir Kapoor was directed by the Dabbang fame Abhinav Kashyap and was released after the humongous success of the movie "Yeh Jawani hain Deewani". The movie released on 2nd October 2013 which was a national holiday and got a bumper opening of 21 crores. The numbers were huge and it felt like the movie is going to take Ranbir's career to new heights however all speculations went in vain. The movie did receive an amazing opening but the movie was panned down by critics and the people for a loose storyline and a lot of loo breaks. This further resulted in a negative word of mouth among the people. The movie's box office collections went down by 60 -70 percent on the very next day of release. The movie could only collect 59 Crores in the two weeks run at the box office and was ultimately declared a flop

2: Fan

The theme of the movie was built around the stardom of SRK, however, the irony is that the movie made a dent in his stardom. The movie having Shahrukh Khan as the leading man and the talented director Band Baaja Baraat fame Maneesh Sharma failed to deliver at the box office. The movie couldn't even cross 100 crore mark at the Indian box office and that made it fall under the biggest setbacks in the career of Shahrukh Khan whose peers were delivering 300-500 crore movies. The major turn-offs in the movie were a hollow storyline, boring chase sequences, and a predictive climax. So, the movie proved that it doesn't matter who is starring in the movie, until and unless the movie has a binding storyline and entertainment quotient it cannot taste success at the box office. The movie did a decent box office collection of 52.35 crores in the first weekend however in the second week it witnessed a remarkable decline of 85% and could only collect 7.75 crores in the second weekend. The movie did a lifetime collection of 188 crores, all thanks to the Shahrukh Khan star power overseas.

3: Bombay Velvet

Bombay Velvet is an elite example of how big budget movies having top-notch star cast fails to deliver in the absence of a solid storyline. The movie was a period drama based on the famous book Mumbai Fables. The movie was released in the year 2015. The movie starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles made a lot of ripples in the media prior to its release as it was introducing Karan Johar as an antagonist in the movie. The movie was directed by Anurag Kashyap and was expected to take the box office by storm. The movie was made on a lavish budget of 120 crores and stakes were high for the producers. The movie was panned down by the critics and audience simultaneously that resulted in a poor box office collection of mere 22 crores in the first week of its release and its box office run ended at 42 crores which were way too low than the expected numbers by the Trade Pandits. The movie was undoubtedly the biggest disaster of the year 2015 and in the careers of Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, and Anurag Kashyap.

The above three box office debacles proved to the world that content is the king and how important the word of mouth is in the success of any movie at the box office.

She is gorgeous and the media has been following her extensively in the year 2018. The star kids whose movies will rule the year 2018

1: Dhadak

This movie starring Jhanvi Kapoor and Ishan Khattar will be directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by none other than the father of nepotism in the Bollywood industry Mr. Karan Johar. Dhadak is the remake of the Marathi Blockbuster Sairat. The movie has been in the news since its inception and the images from the shooting were regularly posted on the social media platforms that kept the eyes rolling and mind getting crazy for the movie. The trailer that was recently released took the nation by storm and went on to get 36 Million views in a matter of a week which was at par with the most awaited movie of the year Sanju. The movie belongs to the romantic genre and will surely help Ishan and Jhanvi to become the next big thing in the Bollywood. The movie will release on 20th July 2018 and there are high chances that the movie is going to do well.

2: Simbaa

The movie will be the second movie of the gorgeous Sara Ali Khan who is the daughter of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh. The movie will star the energetic Ranveer Singh opposite her and will be directed by Rohit Shetty. The first schedule of the movie has been recently started. There is a decent buzz of the movie that is going to release on 28th December 2018. It will be very early to say anything about the movie however as the poster shows Ranveer in a funny mood, we can expect another family entertainer from Rohit Shetty. The shooting of Kedarnath has also finished so, this can be the second movie of Sara Ali Khan.

3: Student of the Year 2

The movie is going to launch Ananya Pandey who is the daughter of the famous comedian Chunkey Pandey. Ananya is beautiful and has been media's eye candy in the year 2018. The Movie will also star the action sensation Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria. The movie will be directed by Karan Johar's favorite Punit Malhotra. The shooting of the movie has been started and is expected to release on 23rd November 2018.

Conclusion

The common point between these three movies is that all movies are produced by Karan Johar so, we can say that he is doing what he is exceptionally good at that is setting up the launching pad for the star kids.

Anyways I wish all the best to all the beautiful ladies and yes, to the promising Ishan Khattar too for an amazing debut.
