Sanju Movie Review

Star Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Star Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala,Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Vicky Kaushal, Anushka Sharma, Karishma Tanna and Jim Sarbh.

Director: Rajkumar Hirani.

Positives: The movie is another gem coming out of the magic box of Rajkumar Hirani. The movie is all about the life of the renowned movie star Sanjay Dutt portrayed in an amazing manner. The movie is fueled by an elite star cast and direction and will make you stick to your seat with eyes wide open as you cannot afford to blink.

Movie Analysis

The script of the movie basically focuses on the two phases, the first one is the drug addiction phase that takes you closer to the life of the superstar and runs you through the series of incidents that made him a drug addict. Ranbir Kapoor has copied Sanjay Dutt better than him and the first half of the movie you can just admire the acting, emotions, and fun coming out smoothly from Ranbir Kapoor.

Star Performace:

Ranbir has copied Sanjay Dutt better than him, throughout the movie he talks, walks, behaves, imitates him perfectly. The credit, of course, goes to Rajkumar Hirani to pull this magnitude of performance out of Ranbir Kapoor.

Another star of the movie is Vicky Kaushal who has given another powerful performance after Masaan and Raazi. You all will be surprised to know that he just overpowers Ranbir Kapoor in some of the scenes. He is playing the role of his best friend in the movie. His Gujarati accent and the cheesy dialogue which says "Ghee che to Ghappaghap Che" will definitely woo your mind.

Paresh Rawal has played his part well and seems like a perfect fit in the role of Sunil Dutt. Paresh Rawal has shown immense enthusiasm while playing the role of a supportive father and also the movie touches some of the untold aspects of the Dutt Family. Manisha Koirala has played the role of Nargis with grace and it was a treat to see her after so many years on the silver screen.

Anushka Sharma looks beautiful with that new hairstyle and plays her role well. Sonam Kapoor looks average and has a very short role in the movie however she gets the commode around her neck for her average performance from Ranbir Kapoor. Jim Sarbh has played his part well and Karishma Tanna has looked so sensuous that your eyes are going to pop out.

Direction and Music:

Music was never the USP of this movie so the music has been average overall, however, the song "har har maidaan fateh" is refreshing and beautiful. Now coming to Rajkumar Hirani I can say that he has nailed it, the credit of transforming Ranbir Kapoor to Sanjay Dutt goes to him. He has made a biopic that we are going to admire for generations. The movie touches the dark side of Sanjay Dutt's life and has been portrayed in an exceptional manner. Rajkumar Hirani deserves a standing ovation for his outstanding direction and vision.

My Verdict:

The movie will make you laugh, cry, think and surprise simultaneously. I will suggest you all to must watch it as it is not just an ordinary masala entertainer, it is a feather in the cap of Rajkumar Hirani and Ranbir Kapoor. I personally that there can be nothing more entertaining than the life of a movie star and a cricketer so, you can expect a lot of biopics in the coming years.
